Walform Tube
Walform Tube is a product of the Eaton Walterscheid Tube fitting series typically used for sealing metal-to-metal and elastomeric surfaces. They are known as “compression-joint” or “bite-type” fittings as the profile ring in the fitting “bites” on the tube body and create the connection.
The connection formed allows fluid to flow through in the system installation. Walform Tubes are new technology and typically known for their good resistance to corrosion and pressure, high strength, and ease of installation. |

What are Walform Tube

1. What are Walform Tube?
Walform tubes are tuned during hydraulic systems installation to provide sealing for metal-to-metal surface or elastomeric surfaces. Being a sealant, they are made in several sizes depending on the type of system it would be fit into. The tube size could be from 6mm to 42 mm in outer diameter.
Walform Tubes are made according to the DIN EN ISO 8434-1 standard. To ensure its durability and quality, Walform tubes are made of steel (stainless steel and carbon steel). DIN 2353 fittings are a range of metric tube fittings connect to walform tubes.

3. How to produce Walform Tubes?
a. Tube Preparation – A tube grade suitable for cold-bending and flaring is to be used, pursuant to type NBK, material ST37.4, standard DIN 2391. Tubes made of stainless steel, grade 1.4571 or SS316 must be cold drawn seamless ad scale-free heat-treated.
Step 1: Saw off at right angles and do not use cutters or cutting-off wheels.
Step 2: Deburr the tube ends inside and out and remove the paint in the clamping and reshaping area.
Step 3: Clean the bare metal of the tube end if needed. Make sure the tube is in perfect condition with no damage or no spalling.
Step 4: Most faults can be avoided simply by paying attention to:

b. Walform Tube Production - Walform tube can be customised according to tube outer diameter, thickness and length required. Here are the steps of tube production:
Step 1: Check the tube outer diameter and thickness and ensure the require size has complete tools of reshaper and clamping jaw.
Step 2: Switch on the walform machine and press the change tool button.
Step 3: Open the tool holder in the machine and place the clamping jaw inside it. Tighten the reshaper screw in the walform machine and close the tool holder.
Step 4: Press the start key and function key at the same time and old for 2 seconds. Wait until the white indicator light comes on. The clamping jaws move to an insertion position which indicates that the tool is ready to be formed.
Step 5: Put the nut inside the tube and slide the tube until it is held firm by the clamping jaws.
Step 6: Insert the tube horizontally up to the stop and hold it tight and press the start button. This is the kickstart of tube reshaping process.
Step 7: After the reshaping process is done, pull the reshaped tube out of the machine and check for any default.
Step 8: Note down the control diameter during the process. A small reshaping diameter could potentially damage the fitting function.

5. What are the types of Walform Tubes?
Walform tubes can be classified into three types:
Walform tubes can be classified into three types:
- Walpro Metallic Seal Cutting Ring: These types of Walform tubes are designed with a two-sided cutting edge which allows it to be suitable for metal-to-metal sealing. The tightening torque 25% rate lower than the standard assembly and has a tightening travel between 30 degrees to 60 degrees for in-service assembly. It is cost efficient while still allowing easy solution to leakage problems. The Walpro Metallic Cutting Ring also allows for shorter bending lengths making it a good option for several applications. However, it is primarily used for fluid retention, forced closure and combined sealing.
- Walring Cutting Ring: This type of tube also has two-cutting edges ring alongside a captive seal and a machine assembly. The made of an elastomeric material and is used to provide seals in metal-to-metal surfaces. The Walring Cutting Ring has a tightening travel between the ranges of 30 to 650 degrees after the assembly of the machine. It has been certified for use by Zista Seal and Zistaplex tubes. In addition, it is permissible for a controlled final setup with the M-R7 machine. Generally speaking, it is great for manual assembly process and if you wish to minimize errors.
- Walform Tube Connectors: This type of tube is used for the cold reshaping of a tube with a captive seal. They are great for assemblies with high vibration and high pressure. The Walform Tube connectors provide good sealings with a good performance and yet a simple machine installation.
6. What Walterscheid Machines is the Tube Fittings Compatible with?
To enhance performance and ease of installation, Walterscheild produces two major machines that are perfectly compatible with Walform Tubes. There are the M-R7 and the M-WF385X plus.
M-WF385X plus Machine: These are lightweight and compact machines that can easily be moved. They are also designed to work with Walform tubes with diameters ranging from 6mm to 42mm. The machine contains colour-coded tools which makes it difficult to misrepresent tools.
To enhance performance and ease of installation, Walterscheild produces two major machines that are perfectly compatible with Walform Tubes. There are the M-R7 and the M-WF385X plus.
- M-R7 Machine: The M-R7 is completely compatible with tube fittings with diameters between 6mm to 42 mm. With the M-R7 machine, you can automatically assemble the tube by simply pushing in it. Its design procedure allows for automatic tool detection and setting the process values. The machine generally improves the efficiency of the workflow.
M-WF385X plus Machine: These are lightweight and compact machines that can easily be moved. They are also designed to work with Walform tubes with diameters ranging from 6mm to 42mm. The machine contains colour-coded tools which makes it difficult to misrepresent tools.
